I was given a copy of this book as a gift from the author early on, and somehow life seemed to always get in the way. Having just recently picked it up to read, I was immediately mesmerized. I have always been fascinated to some degree with the Native American experience, and it broke my heart to read in such detail about the plight of a people just wanting to live their lives the way they had always done. Lost in the pages, I found myself crying at the loss of innocent lives and angry at the injustices waged against them; hopeful for the futures of those who had found peace, saddened for those who felt they had
