"Couldn't get enough time with my busy life to read as much as I wanted to in one sitting!" according to Lori Studner. I absolutely loved this book! I was pulled in from the first few pages, which is hard for any author to accomplish. Sharon has such a descriptive vocabulary and I felt that I understood all the settings and the feel of every scene and person that was described. Being a very visual person, that is what pulls me into a book. My saddest moment was when I finished the last chapter and realized that there are no other books to go on to read of Sharon Gilder because I would be sure to get them immediately! Start writing girl!. "My new favorite novel! Irresistibly engaging "twists and turns" and surprise ending!" according to KT. It's one of those reads that you want to go on forever. The setting is primarily in Washington, DC in the late 1800's with a few side journeys to London and Wales. All the personalities and characteristics of the human condition are present in the novel's characters as they are revealed in lusciously extravagant details on every page. I felt palpably. "Victorian fiction fans will love this book." according to Carol. I don't usually review a book prior to finishing, but as Rose is this author's debut fictional effort, I thought I'd share my impressions with other fans of this historical period. First, the book is meticulously researched. Ms Gilder's descriptions are precise and accurate. She captures the cultural nuances skillfully, using these to create an interesting plot. A strong leading lady, Airelle, navigates through attractions and family secrets with a mix of determination and grace. Even the characters' names are fun! I will update later, but so far I'm thoroughly enjoyi
