I knew nothing about the politics of this country, but the situation is brought vividly to life: a totally corrupt president. Incredible characters that stick with me Janie S I was incredibly moved by this book. Ms. Mohamed is an amazing writer. Not only did the book help me understand the terrible costs of civil war in a country like Somalia, it is a great anti war book which I hope will be widely read.My only criticism is I wish the book had a glossary, and some historical notes about modern Somalian history.
