I like this deck and this book because it gives an inner and outer summary of each card and its meaning, plus a little back story on the actual mythic tale represented in each card by a specific character. (Such as Athena, in the card Justice.) I've been using the deck for 20 something years along with the book, (Had to buy a new one. Nur Alima said Fantastic book!. This is a great book! The Mythic Tarot is my favorite tarot card set that I own. This book is chock-full of imaginative and creative descriptions and information about the cards. I lost the paperback book that came with the cards that I bought many years ago so I decided to purchase a hard back copy! I am pleased to have the hardback. Nice little book Ana This book is small, compact & hardcover! If you have the newer version of this book "The New Mythic Tarot" you certainly do not need this book. The text is the almost the same word for word. In the newer/updated version, the author added extra esoteric/historical tarot information. Interestingly, the original book doesn't place much,
