The Extra tells the story of a part of life that many of us experience - a parent moving to assisted living or some other care facility and the balance or imbalance of care provided by sibling children. The description of life in Jerusalem and of daily culture clashes that are part of Israeli life was excellent. The ending was strange in a way and gave a different and unexpected perspective on the main character. Not completely satisfying. But the book was well written and pulled me in completely..
