DESCRIPTION:
Whether souvenirs from trips, giftshop specials with snappy slogans, or a piece of delicate china from great-grandma's tea set, cups appeal to everyone. Witty text discusses the history of these items--selected by art historian Garth Clark and ranging from custom-made collector pieces to mass-produced advertising gimmicks.. Cups and cup paraphernalia fill this charming little volume to the brim
From that plastic Mickey Mouse cup you bought at Disneyland to the antique Worcester china cup that your Aunt Nelly gave you as a wedding gift, everyone holds a special cup in their heart. Garth Clark's Book of Cups is a celebration of the cup throughout the ages.
Carmen S. Xerxenesky said Terrible!. It is ridiculous and I feel betrayed when I recieved this book. It is not expensive, but totally unecessary. I want inspirations for painting, but this one has absolutely nothing! Compare itwith Sheila Southwell and you will know why. I laughed about it, and my friends too!For this reason I'm grateful, and rated this book with 1/5 stars.. Artists' interpretations of an everyday object A Customer This charming little book is not a dry collectors' manual of fine china. Rather, it is a brief overview of cups in history, with a special emphasis on 20th-century and contemporary fine artists' interpretations. Also included are humorous, kitschy flea-market finds, and other irreverent examples. Definitely the art lover's cup of tea!. "to the brim please" according to A Customer. a great example of variations on a theme being the root of human creativity not a book of rich people's china but an ecclectic picture book of the potter's art, commercial and yes some fine china as a potter I find it a delight
