Southern fiction based on family history Jeri Fitzgerald Board is a compelling writer. The Bed She Was Born In is a southern story based on family history. Anyone interested in life as it was lived around the Civil War years will find new facts on the strife and life of many southern women. You will find it difficult to keep your nose out of this book.. Jan said More than I anticipated!. I attended a breakfast at my neighbor's house in honor of Jeri F. Board, who is my neighbor's cousin. During this gathering, Jeri read a passage from her book which sparked my interest. She told our group that The Bed She Was Born In was about her family. I purchased the book before leaving and picked it up to read about a week later. I must admit, I'm not a fan of any war-related novels or any books related. Judy Crump said Five Stars. Thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful story! Character development was great and descriptions were beautiful.
