DESCRIPTION:
Susan has written the book I have wanted to write, read and share with my colleagues and adult students!” - Elizabeth Peterson, Teacher and Arts Integration Specialist. Steam Point is the type of book I want at my fingertips as I plan my lessons and collaborate with colleagues. Susan has created curriculum maps that align the Common Core State Standards with the National Arts Standards and intertwine with both STEM concepts and lesson ideas in one reference. Specifically included in this guide: *Curriculum maps integrating Common Core English Language Arts and Math Standards, STEM practices and Fine Arts Standards, as well as Lesson Thread Ideas. The section on assessment takes the pressure off the idea that assessment is finite and poses it as more of a natural process of growth for teacher and student. I like the way your writing addresses the questions your readers will have before those questions get a chance to fully form in their mind. The way you present information in this book makes it understandable when it may seem way too complicated otherwise.” - Melissa Edwards, Instructional Technology Specialist “So much

Kathleen Bushek said Great book. Another excellent book by Susan Riley. There is no fluff in this book, all meat. STEAM is a new topic; there is not much information out there. Susan has proven herself on the subject. STEAM Point offers helpful information and guidance to set up a solid STEAM Program in a school district step by step. She presents attainable, sequentially building goals that adhere to common core standards. Also a good case as to why arts are integral to. Great. M. Lance For a book that asks you to jump right into a great mode of teaching and learning, it takes a while in the book to get there. Presumably, if you have picked up the book, you don't need to know the philosophy and history of the movement- you already are a believer! Other than that, a good, useful book with good connections to a lot of online resources.. DS in St Louis said Practical. I used this book to write a paper about STEAM. Very practical templates for developing STEAM units and lessons. The author also has a website with further inspiration.
