DESCRIPTION:
The saying rang true for Jordan and a flame long thought extinguished was awakened inside him whenever Amelia was near. Try as they might they could not douse the flames. Denying his desire for her was no longer becoming and option.. Still she found herself throwing caution to the wind and knew she would pay whatever the cost for the chance at one more kiss. Amelia was lost from the moment she laid eyes on Jordan Bradford. Time and again he sought her out against his better judgment and his hardened hearts wishes. Besides the fact she was just the maid, there were far too many reason besides the obvious that they could not be together. Forbidden fruit was always sweeter. "Karen Green-Berry-BRAB Online Club" according to Karen Green-Berry. I just finished reading Rescue and must say I was pleasantly surprised. This is the story of Jordan Bradford ( a rich white man) and his maid extraordinaire Amelia Marriot. Amelia had a hard life being raised by her aunt who wanted to get rid of her and offered her to an older gentleman as his wife. While working for the Bradford's, an attraction grew between jordan and Amelia which led to an intense and unusual love story.Ms. Lam's great storytelling draws you in and takes you through this tumultuous relationship with all it's ups and downs which includes racism. It is a wonderfully written story.. Rescue Me The heroine had no backbone and wouldn't stand up to her evil aunt and old lecher fiance. She had no self-esteem and allowed them to dominate her. The hero was a womanizer and had trust issues from a previous marriage. I liked that the hero and heroine's romance was slow building at first. But half way though, I became bored. The heroine didn't stick up for herself until her fiancee discovered she slept with the hero. (If that hadn't occured, she would have married the creep who had been molesting her for years). The couples issues nearly derailed the story. The constant fights before and after the marriage was tiresome. I started ski. Grouchygal said Blah. I so wanted to like this story. It WAS well written and there weren't an extreme amount of grammar irregularities. However, like another reviewer i was disappointed in the heroine. Considering the setting and the times, i couldn't help thinking "Really?". There was alot of talk if intolerance, but folks readily accepted this relationship? The H/h didn't seem to hide anything. The heroine put up a token resistance to the hero's actions then kept on going.Could a woman be so innocent and duped into such a relationship considering the times. Probably. Maybe. But i just didn'want to see a black woman portrayed as such a weener. I really s
