Great starter book for Photoshop CSGreat starter book for Photoshop CS4 Michael C. Podlesny I gave this book 5 stars because it is everything I expected it to be. A photoshop for beginners, which is what I exactly was at the time I purchased it.I was a bit disappointed at first because the flow of the book did not seem to take me in a direction that I thought was not teaching me how to use Photoshop in the best manner, but by the time you get near the middle of the book, the author ties everything together nicely.This book is a great starter for those who are getting into Photoshop for the first time. Once you master the basics taught to you in this book, I recommend doing a google search on the words "photoshop tutorial". I gave this book 5 stars because it is everything I expected it to be. It could use more pictures of where everything is at in Photoshop. I'm running Photoshop on a PC so the tool tips doesn't work on most items which on the MAC the tool tips work fine. I went to Edit Preferences and the tool tips is checked on the PC. I would have preferred a CD with the book that would have given me some exercises. The book says it has a website but I haven't had the time to check it out. Good Luck.. "More of a reference book than a read straight through" according to DigitalMan. I think this is a really well written book. I use it more as a reference book than something to read just straight through. The author writes very clearly and gives good step by step instructions. It has already helped me get through two topics that were always very difficult for me to understand, specifically layer masks and printing. I have referred to is several times more since then.
