DESCRIPTION:
Flamingo said Blood and Honor is better.. The book's information is a bit dated, not as current as I was expecting. It's a bunch of news articles from the Phila. Newspapers.. Disappointed I am a big fan of George Anasasia's other books about the Philadelphia Mob! That being said I was VERY disappointed in "Mobfiles: Mobsters, Molls, and Murder". It seemed like a synapse of his previous works. I do realize that there is not much to report on the Philadelphia Mob over the past 10+ years but I would not recommend this book to anyone who has read Mr. Anastsia's other books.. "A read for anyone who enjoys learning about the classical gangster" according to Midwest Book Review. The power that the mob once had on the country has been weakening rapidly. "Mob Files: Mobsters, Molls, and Murder" tells the story of the decline of the American mafias through the files of a respected and veteran reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer, George Anastasia. Diving into the stories of the mobsters themselves, Anastasia presents a fiction-like but true accounting of the mob. "Mob Files" is a read for anyone who enjoys learning about the classical gangster.

They are tales of murder and mayhem, love and betrayal, and the loss of honor and loyalty. Mobfiles provides the true stories around which classics like The Godfather and The Sopranos have been built. For more than 25 years as a reporter with the Philadelphia Inquirer George Anastasia has made tracking the demise of the American Mafia his regular beat, writing investigative pieces, profiles and slices of underworld life. All of these factors have contributed to the disintegration of La Cosa Nostra. The characters around whom the stories are framed include mob bosses, turncoat witnesses, high living wiseguys and the women who loved and lost them. Anastasia s writing is a rare window into this murky world, bringing the reader up close to the principal players, their crimes, and their ultimate fates..
