Copyright 1999 Reed Business Information, Inc. Recommended. . Reluctantly accepting an offer from a former mentor, Belle relocates to Abingdon, VA. This bouncy romantic tale of a devout Christian woman looking for love should please most readers seaching for a fun summer read. Not only is the job a pleasant change, but Belle soon finds herself needing to decide which one of three men is right for her. In her fiction debut, Higgs (Help, I'm Laughing and I Can't Get Up, Thomas Nelson, 1998) brings to life the usually ebullient but currently down-in-the-dumps Belle O'Brien. From Library Journal Christian fiction isn't known for humorous books, so this title is a special joy. Not only has Belle lost her latest radio job owing to a format change but she really wants to get married and has yet to find the right man

The pickings are slim in small-town Abingdon. Norah Silver-Smith, her friend and encourager, will join Belle in discovering that it's never too late to listen to your heart.. Belle O'Brien, the woman behind the warmest voice in Virginia radio, has one problem: her oldies show on WPER-FM is a solid-gold hit, but her love life, at thirty-two years and counting, is an off-the-billboard-charts disaster. Will it be smooth-talking Patrick Reese, the man who launched her radio career a decade earlier? Moody but handsome David Cahill, the chief engineer with a mysterious past and a new life in Christ? Or Matthew the Methodist, her pastor across the street? Surrounded by an on-air cast of colorful characters, Belle's journey toward joy is filled with humor and heartbreak, surprises and disappointments

Teresa Medeiros said This book was divine!. I'm sitting here with tears streaming down my cheeks and an irrepressible urge to jump to my feet and yell, "Bravo! Bravo!" I just finished MIXED SIGNALS and it absolutely blew me away. I can't believe it was a first novel because it read like it was the author's thirty-fifth book. The prose was incandescent, each character fully realized and unforgettable, and it fully captured the magic of falling in love. And the author hit the inspirational notes with such a light and deft hand that I can feel comfortable giving this book to my non-Christ. A Sweet, Sweet story! Rebecca Turner Liz Curtis Higgs has a way of cleverly pulling you into the story as an observer and in this case an encourager to the characters of the story. I enjoyed the small town setting, the characters who were connected by WPER and the sweet, sweet stories the evolve as you read the book. I love the way she writes into each character their faith belief and how they use it as their compass throughout this story. You will laugh, you'll cry, you'll cheer, and hold your breath with each twist and turn, but you will love every word, every minute of this s. "A Wonderful Re-Read" according to sandy smith. Looking for a well written, enticing bit of fiction to fill some lazy summer hours, I remembered Belle and suddenly couldn't wait to get started! Liz Curtis Higgs books are always ones I can't wait to share so I had to re-order, this time on Kindle. As always, a book of Lizzie's just can't be put down!
