The book begins with a brief introduction to the structure and function of the eye and then focuses on core conditions in ophthalmology. New additions include the introduction of a chapter on presenting complaints in the form of clinical cases and an increased emphasis on learning objectives. Beautifully illustrated throughout, this new edition of Lecture Notes on Ophthalmology concentrates on the most common eye problems that medical students and doctors are expected to diagnose and manage. The book is also thoroughly updated to include material on recent advances in the treatment of diseases such as glaucoma and macular degeneration. The result is a book that remains the most compact yet comprehensive guide to ophthalmology. The highly structured text is designed to facilitate easy access to information, making the book an ideal resource for revision. It will appeal to medical students, junior doctors, optometry students, practising opticians, general practitioners, and ophthalmic nurses who want a concise introduction to the subject or an ideal revision companion.
excellent as introduction or as a last minute revision A Customer This is a really good book, which reads very well and once started it is difficult to leave down. The content is satisfactory alhough somewhat lacking in a few areas. It does not require a lot of prior knowledge which is of particular benefit to the beginner. One problem is that some areas are only dealt with on a rather superficial level which can be somewhat frustrating and requires other books to be used. However the details of the book are sufficient to achieve a pass in any undergraduae medical course. The layout and illustrations are fine, rath
At this reasonable price, I wish that this book had been around last year when I bought a lesser quality text for almost double the price and hardly ever opened it. Really worth a look."Surgo - October 97. With an excellent balance of text, diagrams and colour photographs this book gives the reader an overview of the most important features of ophthalmologyI would definitely recommend it."Eye News " the choice of subjects and depth of coverage reflects incidence and importance in ophthalmic practice and student examinations. COMMENTS ON 8TH ED "The Lecture Notes series has always been a useful source for revision and this ophthalmology edition is not an exception. It has proved a success in the past and with the addition of revision questions, learning objectives and clinical scenarios/presentations, will continue to be so."Student Reviewer - Leicester
