Written by a descendant of the protagonist this is an excellent story about how the American Revolution transformed a simple NY German farmer into an enterprising loyalist (tory). It would make an excellent companion volume to Joseph Plumb Martin (the patriot)as a side by side study,in microcosm, of how ordinary colonial citizens became mortal enemies.
