DESCRIPTION:
. About the Author Larry Shepard is a former engineer for Chrysler Corporation, where he worked in Mopar Performance, the high performance parts division. Not much modifying This book is virtually identical (same diagrams and pics) as the mopar magnum manual. About 90+% of the book entails taking a magnum apart and putting it back together. The next 5-8% or so covers the bolt on performance products for the magnum. The only "modifying" I could find in this book was the small section on cylinder head port. J. James said How To Modify Your Magnum V-8. This book is like the other Larry Shepard mopar small block book. It's okay, but needs more detail. Since Larry was an engineer at Chrysler, he only explores building the engine with Chrysler parts. I wish there was more detail on porting heads, oiling system mods, rocker arm selection and more. It is good to have it to use with othe. "no good" according to bret. this book sucks-no practical info that applies to only magnum's-mostly general info about engines and machining-not what I was hoping for
Famed Mopar performance guru Larry Shepard offers a comprehensive guide on modifying Chrysler's popular Magnum V-8, used in 1992-and-newer Dodge Ram and Dakota; 1998-and-newer Durango; and 1994-98 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2L and 5.9L V8 engines. Includes sections on the cylinder block, piston/rods/crankshafts, cylinder heads and valvetrain, induction, exhaust, ignition and lubrication systems, engine swapping guide and horsepower calculations.
