I haven't read any of Luci's prior appearances in The Fall of Cthulu, but I didn't feel like I was missing backstory. The writing is excellent, with a nice blend of action and character development, and Emma Rios's art is outstanding.. One of the unsung greats of the last decade. Without a doubt one of the hidden greats in the modern comic book world, Hexed is short but is paced out perfectly to maximize its length. We learn to love the few characters, especially our lead protagonist Luci, in the short time we have to get to know them. The book certainly pulls some of its action horror elements from Buffy, angels and demons being prominent throughout, but absolutely has a voice of its own. The only real issue I had is the many implications of there being a further story here to tell of Luci. Great story - great art! Boris Now this was an entertaining read! I stumbled upon this book when Boom! allowed Newsarama to present the complete first chapter online for free. Don't take my word for it, just go there and read it (there are no links allowed in reviews, so just google "newsarama" "nelson" "hexed" "full free"). I am not that much into the occult otherwise but that story had me hooked. I had to buy this Trade to know how Lucifer's story goes on. And I was not disappointed. The script is very elaborated and subtile. I had to read it
