Patch said A good collection. I'm a fan of inter-related short stories, and this collection is a fine example of why they appeal to me. Ms. Schwartz is clever at dropping in an appearance of a previously encountered character or a little detail that appeared in a previous story and now has a new resonance. She is skillful in character portrayal and she has the gift of sympathizing with characters who almost certainly are not anything like people she is likely to be close to--such as a Catholic wife obsessed with St Anne as the soluti. Harry Danced Divinely A compelling and thought provoking collection of short stories. A wide ranging look at class, gender relationships, and old-fashioned beliefs that people stubbornly hold on to until its too late.Disclosure of Material Connection: I received a copy of this book free from the author. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.. Amazon Customer said I wasn't ready to leave. “Harry Danced Divinely” is a charming collection of stories, each depicting a person or family living on Giffort Street in an upstate New York city between 1950 and 1970. Author Marian D. Schwartz explains, in an author’s note, that she used the physical setting in which she was raised—a street of magnificent elms towering over gracious homes. The setting evokes the security and serenity of a happy childhood. But the reader soon discovers that life is not tranquil on Giffort Street
