DESCRIPTION:
But as he had done for years, Rod Blagojevich proved he was no ordinary politician. With Blagojevich now serving 14 years in prison, the time has come for the last word on who Blagojevich was, how he was elected, how he got himself into trouble, and how the feds took him down.. The 40th governor of Illinois made international headlines in 2008 when he was roused from his bed and arrested by the FBI at his Chicago home. Instead, he fueled the headlines, proclaiming his innocence on seemingly every national talk show and street corner he could find. Revealing evidence from the investigation never before made public, Golden is the most complete telling yet of the Blagojevich story, written by two Chicago reporters who covered every step of his rise and fall and spent years sifting through evidence, compiling documents, and conducting more than a hundred interviews with those who have known Blagojevich from his childhood to his time in the governor
Explaining Rod To The Rest Of The Country Too much of America got to see Blagojevich as a bit of a cartoon character due to his media appearances and reality TV work without understanding the who and the why behind him. And the best part - losing his Governor position and getting thrown in jail. But re. "Hard-Hitting and Factual" according to NumbersGuy. The authors were in the right place at the right time to watch Rod Blagojevich destroy himself and seriously damage the government of Illinois. This book, Golden, delivers an up-close, hard-hitting view of the flawed Governor, his inner circle, and those who brought him to justice. Highly recommended.
Drawing on interviews and trial transcripts, Coen and Chase provide a fast-paced and probing recollection of the rise and fall of Blagojevich and the behind-the-scene deal making that brought him down. Colorful characters and political chicanery and manipulation add to the detailed drama of the pay to play scheme to sell Obama’s seat to the highest bidder that entangled Blagojevich and other Illinois politicians, including Jesse Jackson Jr. Chicago reporters Coen and Chase impart more inside knowledge than the national press has. The authors go beyond the disgrace of Blagojevich (sentenced to 14 years) to ask broader questions about
