I learned more about lizards with this book. * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*. Mom said Really?. I think "Really?" according to Mom. I think 2 stars is probably generous, but my 5 year old liked the pictures so there's that. But really, that's about all the book has to offer. The grammar is atrocious. The 'facts' are hardly present. This would be a good book for a beginning reader who needs practice reading and isn't terribly bothered by the fact that this probably wouldn't earn a passing grade as an 8th grade writing project.. stars is probably generous, but my 5 year old liked the pictures so there's that. EJ McLester said More for older kids over 7. Pictures are great but information is well above smaller children's comprehension. Vocabulary needs to be toned down so little ones understand as it's read then not have the narrator have to stop at every sentence and explain a word. The gist of the story is then lost and so is the interest.
Although they are basically harmless, and may actually be beneficial as they eat up pests and insects, they can also have a hysterical way of truly scaring our children. Nearly every one of our homes has been walked upon by some of those pesky little lizards. By allowing them to read a Creepy Lizards of the World Picture Book, they will be less afraid of the common lizard they may see crawling in or around their homes. They will realize that there is much of mother nature they have yet to see or encounter, and will be able to learn about those very things from the comfort of their very own home.
