Elizabeth L. Enloe said Not for the Amature. I got this book to learn more about Oriental cloisonne, but found it to be a serious, and ponderous book, even though I have two degrees in Art. Lots of infor, but very technical, so not for amatures for sure. Most illiustrations are B&W, and I prefer color. Also not as much details on the various types as I had hoped, such as Plique a Jour & Champleve, which I wanted to know more about. (I recommend the Chu book if you are just starting. "Garner's definitive book on cloisonné" according to Edward Kern. Gardner is known by many asian art historians as being the foremost expert on cloisonné. This book was first published in the 1970's. The pictures are black and white. I prefer colored plates. I found the book remarkable to read. It is no wonder that other authors who have written books on the subject of Cloisonne refer readers to Garner's book. It is the definitive book on Cloisonne. It is not to be confused with fun reading and
