About the AuthorAndy Hargreaves, Ph.D., is the Thomas More Brennan Chair in Education in the Lynch School of Education at Boston College. He is currently working as adviser-consultant on several major education reform initiatives around the world. Previously, he was the founder and co-director of the International Centre for Educational Change at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. His book Teaching in the Knowledge Society: Education in the Age of Insecurity (2003) received outstanding writing awards from the American Educational Research Association and the American Library Association. In the past schools were seen as conservative institutions, and change has been resisted by the inmates. All of that changed in the 1960s, 70s and 80s as it was realised that the ubiquitous school systems were failing to accommodate changing demands made by society and its politicians. Change in schools became a highway littered with half baked, failed ideas, and so, the array of brilliant writers assembled . "Great description of successful change methodology" according to Terry A. Shlaes. A nice review of different writers concepts of change methodology. Concise with good examples of each method. Great for a graduate class.. Jonathan Clancy said An OK Read. The title of this piece of text is a tad misleading. Change Wars implies riveting reading, but I would not call this book riveting. Though some of the authors contribute some worthwhile ideas.
