DESCRIPTION:

"THE BRISFIT" WW I BRITISH RECON./FIGHTER P. A. Panozzo Peter Cooksley, a preeminent aero historian, has set forth the technical development of the Bristol Fighter, quite possibly, one of the best reconnaissance/fighter aircraft of World War One. It was a very agile aircraft, very popular with it's crew who nicknamed it the "Brisfit". It was able to hold it's own against the Imperial German fighters. It overcame a disastrous beginning and served well into the 1930s. The first patrol of six "Brisfits", led by Victoria Cross recipient William Leefe Robinson, encountered the Red Baron (Manfred von Richthofen) and his men and came off rather badly, 4 out of 6 being shot down, a fifth damaged. "Very good basic book on the Bristol" according to Amazon Customer. Very good basic book on the Bristol. Added to the old Profile publication on the same title you would have a really good resource on this fine old plane.
