The accompanying quotes by Eugene Martin date from the mid-1970's. This publication includes reproductions of forty-three graphite pencil drawings created by visual artist Eugene James Martin (1938-2005) in 1977 and 1978 in Washington D.C. A new choice of drawings provided here substitutes the original imagery. The drawings that initially accompanied the present aphorisms were accidentally lost in the early 1980's in Washington D.C. These drawings and the quotes had been included in a special "chapbook"; however, someone borrowed Eugene Martin's chapbook and misplaced it, never to be seen again. Additional drawings and artworks by E.J. Martin referred to these drawings as "satirical abstracts"
