They already play the piano (or at least the 9 year old is proficient) but still this is a different type of instrument. The 9 year old also plays the guitar. With their knowledge and these great little books, it is simple for the 9 year old. The 4 year old is working her way thru the book and I think she's doing great. She hasn't lost interest yet. An excellent buy Amazon Customer Perfect book for the beginning musician. I homeschool 3 youngsters and this is perfect to help me refresh my memory from grade school and pass along the important basics.
